For as long as I could remember, I knew exactly what I wanted.
Not “a Rolex.” Not just any watch. The watch.
Actually, two very specific ones had been living rent-free in my mind for years—the Datejust 31 with a fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet, either in Mother of Pearl with diamonds or the dark grey dial with diamonds. I had gone back and forth between the two so many times I could picture them perfectly without even trying. It wasn’t an impulse dream. It was something I had waited for, researched, obsessed over.

So when we started talking about a push present, there was no question what mine would be.
The problem? Finding one.
I had already been on waitlists for over a year. I checked in, followed up, stayed patient… but nothing. Every time I walked into a store, I already knew the answer before they even said it—“We don’t have anything in stock.” It almost became routine.
There were moments where it felt tempting to just say yes to something else. Our SA had offered me three different watches at different times—beautiful pieces, ones most people would’ve jumped on without hesitation. And even when I called around to other stores across the U.S., I’d occasionally get offered a few more options here and there.
But none of them were the one.
I had been so specific for so long. I knew exactly what I wanted, how I wanted it to look on my wrist, how it would feel when I finally had it. After waiting this long, settling just didn’t make sense. This wasn’t about getting a Rolex—it was about getting my Rolex.
So I kept saying no.
I stayed patient. I trusted the timing. And I held onto the belief that when it finally came, it would be exactly right.
Then came the biggest moment of my life—our baby girl.
Those first weeks after she was born were a blur of exhaustion, love, and completely losing track of time in the best way possible. Funny enough, during a time when time didn’t even feel real, I had stopped thinking about the watch.
Until the call came.
It was our SA.
I remember staring at my phone for a second before answering, not expecting anything different than the usual “just checking in.” But this time was different.
“Your watch is here.”
I don’t even remember exactly what I said back. I just remember my heart racing. After over a year of waiting—and just a couple months after becoming a mom—my dream watch had finally arrived.
Walking into the store felt surreal. This wasn’t just about picking up a watch anymore. It marked something bigger—patience, timing, and a completely new chapter of life.
And when they finally placed it in front of me… it was everything I had imagined. Every detail. Every sparkle. Every reason I had waited.

It wasn’t just a push present.
It was a reminder—of becoming a mother, of how long I had waited, of knowing exactly what I wanted and refusing to settle for anything less.
And now, every time I look down at my wrist, I don’t just see a watch.
I see her.
